Coaching Agreement

The Greater Cleveland Soccer Association strives to provide quality soccer instruction to children while fostering a spirit of teamwork and fair play. Coaches are a vital component in this process. Their conduct plays a large role in the development of players and, in a large part, creates the image that is portrayed to the public by the league. The league prides itself in providing quality instruction and offers free clinics to coaches, new and old, to advance their skills. By agreeing to coach a team within the Greater Cleveland Soccer Association, you agree to represent our league and its policies. The following by-laws for coaching recreational teams are provided for your review and signature.

· Maintain a positive attitude at all times and demonstrate respect to players, coaches, spectators, and referees. YOU are an ambassador for this league and abusive or vulgar language and actions will not be tolerated.

· Do not argue with the referee. Accept their decisions and make sure both parents and players show them the proper respect. Ask parents to root for the TEAM and not to yell instructions to their children. Only coaches and referees should be providing instruction.

· Beginning at U-8, only the coach and ONE assistant coach may be on the sideline with the players. Parents and other spectators must remain on the other side of the field.

· Please abide by official league messages on the answering machine and website and refrain from practicing on the fields if the complex has been closed. Excessive play when wet can severely damage the fields.

· Coaches should develop player rotations to ensure equal playing time for every player. Remember, this is recreational soccer and every player should feel that they are contributing to team play. Most of all, make practices fun and interesting and the season a great experience for the kids!!!

By signing below, I am indicating that I have read and understand the information provided above. I understand that any breaches of the above rules will be reviewed by the Greater Cleveland Soccer Board who, will put to a majority vote, any decisions regarding warnings or dismissal. I understand that if I violate these rules that I could be asked to relinquish my duties as coach.
